A big start for little people
Every child has so much to give. We take great care to listen, notice, observe because we believe it’s the little things that matter. Our educators actively engage with each child, responding to their specific needs and interests. We ensure each child is nurtured and provided with a unique sense of belonging. Our vision at Hobsons Bay Children’s Centre is to provide a consistent, high standard of care and early childhood education to children and families attending our service. In order to nurture enquiring minds, we believe that we educate in a way that encourages individualism, critical thinking skills, initiative, choice and appreciation of differences. As early childhood educator’s we draw on our skills and knowledge of child development and the belonging, being and becoming of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) to deliver high quality education and care. Through the use of our diverse teaching styles and practices we aim to provide a curriculum where children’s learning is inclusive, dynamic, complex and holistic. We recognise the child within the context of the family and their community. We believe that children thrive when families and early childhood educators work in partnership to support children’s learning.

Our innovative programming focuses on fostering a true sense of happiness and wellbeing in your child. The developmental and educational years of 0 – 5 are the most important years for establishing the foundations and stepping stones to a healthy, well-adjusted future. We recognise the critical importance of these years and have designed creative programs that support the social, emotional, cognitive, language and physical development of children.

Curriculum
Our program is based on the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and (VEYLDF) . At Hobsons Bay Children’s Centre, we pride ourselves on providing a quality play-based program. A program in which children are encouraged to reach their full potential, where they develop their intellectual, social, emotional, physical and aesthetic skills to become confident and competent lifelong learners.
Our Program nurtures the creative, inquisitive, analytical minds of the children that make up our Hobsons Bay Children’s Centre community. The program is guided by various factors such as interests, dynamics, abilities, experiences and skills, just to name a few, which are used by the educators to create a program rich in learning and meaning.
We strive to create a learning program which fosters the development of each individual child and allows each child to develop at their own pace. Through our learning programs children develop trust, respect and the skills necessary not only for a successful academic life, but for a successful life in general. We strive to develop a love of learning among the children in our care.
Learning Experiences
At Hobsons Bay Children’s Centre we are guided by The Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF).
Hobsons Bay Children’s Centre engages the children to learn through the environment, with appropriate levels of challenges and risk, where children are encouraged to explore through play-based experiences and along the way meet and develop important milestones. We encourage children to use their imagination, express wonder and interest, be curious and creative. Educators extend on Children’s likes and interests both individually and as a group, promoting dispositions for learning and a satisfaction of achievement.
Play provides an important context for learning, where children are able to explore ideas, solve problems and build on opportunities to extend their thinking, make connections and engage with others.
We have created an environment to stimulate brain development and challenge children through play based learning. We offer a controlled program to compliment the success of your child’s abilities now and in later years.

Our Activities
What Are Our Facilities?
Hobsons Bay Children’s Centre is a 58 place long day care centre located in Altona Meadows. We cater for children from 4 months up until school age. Our purpose built centre consists of three well equipped, homely rooms and our outdoor yard caters for even the most adventurous explorers.
We offer a fully funded Kindergarten program for children in the year prior to beginning school, delivered by a Bachelor Qualified Early Childhood Teacher and provide Early Start Kindergarten to eligible children.
We have a kitchen on the premises where our chef prepares the meals for the children daily. All of our food is nutritious and homemade and our menu has been developed in consultation with a nutritionist and our families.
